XXX. International Congress for Horse Breeding of the Socialist States 1979 in Berlin, capital of the GDR International Congress for Horse Breeding of the Socialist States 1979 in Berlin, capital of the GDR, two multicolored special postage stamps are issued. In the period from August 20 to September 4, 1979 find in Berlin, the capital of the German Democratic Republic, the XXX. International Congress for Horse Breeding of the Socialist States and the associated thoroughbred meeting held. The fundamental objectives of the International Congress are to promote the relations and cooperation of socialist states in the field of scientific and technical progress in horse breeding and their performance tests. As in all areas, this cooperation will be conducted on the basis of full equality, mutual benefit and mutual assistance. Annually, annual congressional meetings are held to discuss the latest scientific knowledge and experience in the field of horse breeding, feeding, stance, training and performance testing. Furthermore, there will be polls on the sharing of the best breeding material on the exchange of peels or their sperm, just to name a few examples from the work of the Congress. Related to the congress is the international thoroughbred meeting, where the best horse race horses from the countries working together in the congress are tested for performance. Since 1949, the thoroughbred meeting has taken place alternately on the racetracks in Moscow, Warsaw, Budapest and Berlin. In recent years, a total of 13 international races have been held on two race days each. The most important races of the thoroughbred meeting are the "Peace Prize", the "Moscow Prize" and the "Grand Prix of the International Congress of Horse Breeding of the Socialist States". On the 25-pfennig value is a pas de deux (dance for two) presented with dressage horses. In addition to show jumping, eventing and driving, dressage is one of the four main disciplines of tournament sport, which is becoming increasingly popular among the working people in town and country. Each of these equestrian disciplines requires a thorough training of athletes and horses before they can compete in tournaments based on their ability in classes A (beginner), L, M or S (light, medium, heavy). If a single ridden dressage task requires complete equestrian mastery of the horse, this is even more necessary in a couple's performance in order to be able to demonstrate in a fixed choreographic form the consonance of the movement of riders and horses.
