Special cancellation from May 19 to July 18, 1981 XI. Parliament of the Free German Youth The members of the Free German Youth are currently preparing for their XI. Parliament - the highest organ of the socialist youth organization of the GDR - convened by the 13th meeting of the Central Council of the FDJ for the period from 2 to 5 June 1981 to Berlin. It will give an account of what has been achieved since the last parliament (1976 in Berlin) and, based on the decisions of the Xth Party Congress of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, determine the tasks of the FDJ and thus the contribution of the youth for the eighties. Each parliament is associated with a piece of the thirty-five-year FDJ history. Like no other events, the course and results of the parliaments show the successful development of the Free German Youth in the emergence and growth of the first workers and peasants state on German soil. There is no parliament where representatives of the SED would not explain the policies of the party of the working class, thank FDJ for their achievements, and give them renewed confidence and responsibility. Therefore parliaments are at the same time landmarks in the development and deepening of the relationship between party, FDJ and youth. But parliaments of the FDJ are also events of great social resonance. The fundamental rights of the younger generation, the sponsorship of the FDJ over the armed forces, the movement of young activists and youth brigades, many central youth objects of the FDJ, including the largest in the chronicle of the youth association, the "FDJ Initiative Berlin" for the further development of the GDR The capital, as the country's political, economic and spiritual-cultural center, became a decree on parliaments, thereby becoming a mass movement of youth. With the "party initiative of the FDJ" - the movement of the socialist youth organization in preparation for the Xth Congress of the SED - the Free German Youth has dignified in the largest popular initiative in the history of the socialist fatherland. Under the slogan "The best for the X Party Congress! Everything for the good of the people!" proves itself once again as an active helper and combat reserve of the party. The economic initiatives of the FDJ in the socialist competition in industry and agriculture - in youth brigades and youth objects, the movement of the fair of the masters of tomorrow, the FDJ initiatives Berlin and microelectronics, in the vocational competition of apprentices or in student and student summer - have great economic Importance. Not less are the activities of the FDJ in the international field. In the spirit of proletarian internationalism and anti-imperialist solidarity, the socialist youth organization of the GDR makes its contribution to the consolidation of the unity of action of the progressive world youth in the fight against imperialism and war, for peace, democracy and socialism. The solidarity of the FDJ - these are "Blue-shirt ambassadors", as the members of the FDJ friendship brigades have been affectionately known in African, Asian and Latin American countries for more than 16 years, these are medicines, school supplies, clothing and sports equipment for the youth of Vietnam. Laos and Kampuchea. The Socialist Unity Party of Germany honors the achievements of the best FDJ basic organizations by a red honor banner of the Central Committee with the portraits of Ernst Thalmann and Wilhelm Pieck. 5,000 FDJ collectives received this award for the National Youth Festival of the GDR (1979), another 5,000 such a banner as an expression of their achievements in the "party initiative of the FDJ" awarded these days. The members of the FDJ, delighted with this highest recognition, are worthy of this confidence by taking the lead in fulfilling the goals set by the leading force of society, the Socialist Unity Party of Germany, at its Xth Congress.
