X. GDR Art Exhibition On the occasion of the GDR's Xth Art Exhibition, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues four multi-color special postage stamps. Special cancellation 22nd September to 21st November 1987 10 Pfennig value: Weidendamm Bridge 1986, colored chalk, 45 cm x 35 cm by Arno Mohr, b. 29. 7. 1910 in Poznan, freelance work as a painter / graphic artist in Berlin Arno Mohr, the old master of the crayon, today encounters us in a creative continuation of best Berlin drawing tradition as probably the most popular visual artist of Berlin. The sheet "Weidendammbrücke" was commissioned in the run-up to the Berlin anniversary in 1986. A Berlin leaf, a small scene from everyday life in Berlin, eloquent expression of the artist's deep attachment to this city and its inhabitants. The view (of a child) of the Weidendamm bridge over the Spree to the Bodemuseum. Close to the reality, with scarce graphic means, he captures experiences from today's point of view, he explores his Berlin.
