XI. World Trade Union Congress 1986 in the capital of the GDR, Berlin On the occasion of the XI. World Trade Union Congress 1986 in the capital of the GDR, Berlin, the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issued a multi-colored special postage stamp with auxiliary field. Special cancellation from September 9 to November 8, 1986 XI. World Trade Union Congress will be an event of great international importance to trade unions around the world. It takes place in an international situation that has grown more acute through the US-NATO armaments upgrade and confrontation, and that is crucial to the future of humanity. The fundamental problem is the preservation and safeguarding of world peace. It is important to end the arms race, begin disarmament, abolish all nuclear weapons and stop all moves to militarize space, as contained in the Soviet peace proposals. The World Trade Union Confederation, symbolized by the two hemispheres on postage stamps, has taken a clear stance on the issues of war and peace since its founding over forty years ago. As the most comprehensive and representative international trade union organization with more than 200 million members, unifying unions from socialist, capitalist and developing countries on an equal footing, it plays an active role in the anti-war movement. The WFTU fights for peace, disarmament, democracy, national independence and social progress - against imperialism, neocolonialism and reaction. He advocates for trade union rights and democratic freedom, for the realization and defense of the interests of the working people of all countries. He supports the struggle of the working people in the capitalist countries, who are currently resisting the general attack of monopoly capital on basic social and economic achievements and on their trade union rights. Its solidarity is increasingly applied to those peoples who, in the struggle for their independence, are particularly exposed to imperialism's threat and extortion policies. World Trade Union Congress, where all these issues will play a dominant role, will help. to deepen the cooperation of all trade unions in the world and thus increase the capacity of the international trade union movement to act. As early as 1957, the FDGB hosted the 4th World Trade Congress in Leipzig. It speaks for the high esteem of the working class of our country, for the recognition of the internationalist attitude of the FDGB and its activity for the purposes of the WFTU, if it is again entrusted with this compulsory task 1986. The XI open to all unions. World Trade Union Congress takes place from 16 to 22 September 1986 in Berlin, the capital of the GDR. It will be attended by union representatives from all continents. It will be an important forum for the exchange of experiences of the unionized working class of the world for peace, social progress and international class solidarity. Many congress delegates will be able to see for themselves how the trade unionists of the GDR participate actively and with great political responsibility and expertise in the direction and planning of social development. You will see that socialism has no higher goal than a life of peace, prosperity and happiness for the working class and the entire working people.
