The IX. World Festival takes place in Bulgaria. Our German Democratic Republic will be represented by a representative delegation of the Free German Youth. With her confession and deeds she takes sides with her socialist fatherland and actively participates in shaping the developed social system of socialism in the GDR. The delegates will be everywhere in Sofia as young socialists, educated in the spirit of socialist internationalism, united in solidarity with the progressive youth of the world and passionately participating in the struggle against imperialism. From the 28th of July to the 6th of August 1968, the youth of the whole world will meet in Sofia and with their participation will document their will for solidarity, peace and friendship, the slogan of the festival. The motif of the commemorative stamps represents the emblem of the World Festival. The focal point of the emblem is the globe, around which the five continents are grouped in different shining colors in the form of petals, giving the impression of a flower. The interlocking of the petals expresses the interconnectedness of the youth of the whole world against imperialist aggression and annihilation. The Festival of Youth in Sofia is a festival of youth, cheerfulness and joy, which the graphic artist understands by fresh bright colors.
