From the 1st of June to the 31st of October 2000, for the first time, there will be a universal world exhibition in the Federal Republic of Germany. The guiding theme of the EXPO 2000 in Hanover is »Human - Nature - Technology: A new world emerges«. In the past, world exhibitions had the task of representing technical progress. Its landmarks - such as the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the Atomium in Brussels - symbolize the technical development. At EXPO 2000 you will see how technical progress can serve new goals. The »theme park«, exhibition experience center, illustrates global problems and the search for new ways. Under the motto "Worldwide Projects", exemplary solutions will be presented on key future fields such as communication, health, climate, work, mobility and nutrition. Events within the framework of a cross-cultural cultural program will also be an important part of the World's Fair. For the EXPO 2000, around 180 states present themselves in their own pavilions or exhibition halls. Up to 40 million visitors from all over the world are expected. The stamp appears on April 13, 2000 as a self-adhesive version in the stamp booklet (catalog number 2112).
