Works of Russian and Soviet Painting The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic publishes six multi-colored special postage stamps with illustrations of works of Russian and Soviet painting from the Gemäldegalerie "Neue Meister" in Dresden. With this project, the Gemäldegalerie "Neue Meister" continues to be a nursing home of the most progressive international art. The great complexes of Italian, Dutch French and Spanish art are now joined by the art of the Soviet Union and the socialist brother countries, following the general development of society. 10 Pfennig value: Vladimir Alexandrovich Serov, b. 1910, died 1966 "Der Stahlwerker" 1966 159 x 117 cm, oil / lv. As a portraitist and genre painter, W. A. ​​Serov was one of the most important and recognized artists of the Soviet Union. For his outstanding achievements, he was awarded the title of Folk Artist of the USSR. His portraits, in particular, of the realistic traditions of pre-revolutionary art in Russia, have gained a firm place in the recent history of Soviet painting. In the great portrait of a steelworker the artist has created the type of educated, thinking socialist worker in the portrayal of the reflective attitude and the beautiful, intelligent face.
