In the east Styrian hill country lies the medieval castle Bertholdstein. After varied skill, the abbey of St. Gabriel received her in 1920 as a gift. Benedictines of the Benedictine Benedictine Congregation, founded in Beuron on the Upper Danube in 1863, live here today. The stamp shows a part of the curve of the abbess's staff of the Abbey of St. Gabriel, which was created in 1893. Shown is the Annunciation to the Virgin Mary. The stylistic expression with its statuesque attitude and strict execution of Mary and the Archangel Gabriel are typical of the Beuron Art School, whose most famous representative, Peter Lenz, is also the creator of the design for this work of art.
