Presumably, the Franciscan Church was to "Our Lady" the oldest baptism and parish of the city of Salzburg. In a fire in 1167 it was heavily destroyed and re-consecrated in the course of reconstruction in 1223. The brand motif shows a detail from the retable by Fischer von Erlach around 1709 for the "miraculous image of the Enthroned Madonna". The two accompanying figures (St. George and St. Florian) were created by Simon Fries from Salzburg. The marble pulpit adorns a marble lion in the stairwell, pierced by a warrior with a sword from below. This motif can be seen on the special postage stamp.
