Stamps Crete: The Ottoman Empire gave other nations the right to operate postal services in the country. Austria seized the right and issued for this purpose also own stamps for Levante or Crete. The brands had largely the same motives as the issue in Austria, but they differed by the currency. In Crete from 1903 own stamps were issued with imprint in French currency. The issues 1908 and 1914 were printed with French value. All brands were then valid in Levante.
