Esther von Kirchbach was born on May 26, 1894 as the eldest child of the future Minister of War Adolph von Carlowitz in Berlin. In 1914, shortly before graduation, she married Count Georg zu Münster. After his death (1916), she went to school as a single mother, studied in Marburg and Leipzig mathematics, German, philosophy and history. In 1921 she married the theologian Arndt von Kirchbach. She participated in the Una Sancta, the predecessor of the ecumenical movement. Esther von Kirchbach published book reviews and own articles. In it, she discussed above all the position of women in marriage, family and work and their compatibility. In 1927 she set up state marriage counseling in Dresden. On 19 February 1946 Esther von Kirchbach died after an operation in Freiberg.
