An integral part of the reconstruction efforts was the construction of new energy supply facilities. They were the basis for the steady upward development of the quality of life of the Austrian population. Through the so-called Limbergsperre 86 million cubic meters of water are dammed, which feed the water level "Kaprun main stage". Through the store, most of the summer influx to this power level can be stored for the winter. The barrier itself is an oval concrete wall 120 meters high, 370 meters crown length and a concrete volume of 433,000 cubic meters. It is about 40 meters thick at the foot of the wall and tapers upwards to a crown width of six meters. The construction of the "Kaprun Hauptstufe" power plant began in the Second World War. The construction of the Limberg barrier was completed in 1951, until early 1952, the plant "Kaprun main stage" with a capacity of 220,000 kilowatts was completed.
