In the center of Magdeburg, opposite the cathedral "Saint Mauritius and St. Katharina", meets since January 17, 1991, the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt. Today's development of the cathedral square goes back to a design by Prince Leopold of Anhalt-Dessau (1676-1747). The first houses were built from 1724 to 1728 under the direction of fortress master builder Gerhard Cornelius von Walrave. The destroyed in World War II building began to rebuild in 1953. In order to achieve a closed building ensemble, they built house no. 6 in the historic baroque style.
