Swiss Post has repeatedly presented the Vienna State Opera on stamp issues, most recently on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the reopening. The reason for this brand, which is continued as a series, is the increased interest in opera, in the special case for the premieres of the Vienna State Opera. This top institution of music culture has caused a stir with television broadcasts of their premieres. Being able to experience the great moments of the opera with first-class singers at home has proved to be a successful concept, which should be maintained in the years to come. The post office will join the opera premieres with brand editions and hopes to inspire music lovers and collectors all over the world. A new facet of collecting passion opens up. It starts with the opera "Pique Dame" by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Seiji Ozawa, who became the music director of the Vienna State Opera in 2004, is at the conductor's podium. The premiere at Haus am Ring will take place on October 28, 2007. As a template for Tchaikovsky's opera was the eponymous story of Alexander Pushkin, the founder of modern Russian literature. The central theme of the narrative, written in 1834 - named after a playing card of the French map sheet - is the gambling passion. Place of action is St. Petersburg. Nobles and officers in the Tsarist empire at the end of the 18th century form the social background. In order to get to the secret of luck, the officer Herrmann takes advantage of the trust of his beloved Lisa and literally goes over dead bodies. He presses Lisa's grandmother - formerly called "Pique Dame" in player circles - with a pistol. She dies of fright. Lisa realizes that Herrmann is only taking advantage of her and plunges into despair into the Neva. Herrmann loses the all-important card game against his rival, Prince Jeletzki, and stabs himself. The premiere of the brands at the premieres of the Vienna State Opera shows the stage design of Johannes Leiacker.
