The occasion for the "WIPA 2000" is the anniversary of the issue of the first stamps in Austria 150 years ago on 1 June 1850. The exhibition takes place from 30 May to 4 June 2000 in the Austria Center Vienna. This event is under the auspices of the FIP (Fédération Internationale des Philatélie) and has the patronage of FEPA (Federation of European Philatelic Associations). The competition exhibition includes all classes at the highest level. About 2,500 frames of one square meter each will be shown. An open class is also planned. On four levels there are 14 rooms with a total of 9400 m². The Organizing Committee WIPA has produced various vouchers, vignettes and other mementos that can be subscribed to the Organizing Committee. On the Internet at www.wipa.at you can find interesting information about the exhibition. In the special postage stamp block "WIEN LÄDT WIPA 2000", the three additional stamps "Vienna invites to WIPA 2000" of the years 1997, 1998 and 1999 are combined with a decorative field. However, the block brands all bear the year "2000" instead of the previous years "1997", "1998" and "1999". For the first time there are the same brands in Austria with different dates. The ornamental field on the block shows the logo of the "WIPA 2000" (St. Stephen's Cathedral and Riesenrad) and indicates the anniversary of the stamp in the text.
