Michael Schumacher, born on 3 January 1969 in Kerpen (Germany), has recently announced - after his 90th Grand Prix victory in Monza - the end of his active career as a racing driver. He is the undisputed king of Formula 1: Seven times he was a total world champion (five times between 2000 and 2004 in a row) - never before was there a similar record in Grand Prix racing. This makes the German living in Switzerland the most successful racing driver of all time. Schumacher started his motorsport career very early. At kart races, the "young savage" already met with future competitors in Formula 1. At 18, he started his real racing career, drove in various classes and gained valuable experience, which benefited him in entering the premier class of motorsport. Schumacher, who has achieved everything athletically and currently builds a gigantic estate for his family, has of course long since taken care of himself with his million-dollar annual salary and his numerous advertising contracts. Nevertheless, even after the end of his Formula 1 career, the ambitious German will probably remain in some form of motorsport. The Italian traditional team Ferrari, with whom he could celebrate his greatest successes, has already announced that he is interested in Schumacher as a consultant. Like many other prominent athletes, Michael Schumacher likes to show his social side. In 2002, he was even named Special Envoy by UNESCO for his many years of involvement in aid projects for "Education for Children in Need". One of his former harshest rivals, Damon Hill, says of Michael Schumacher: "Michael is unbelievably professional. If I had to undergo heart surgery, then I would want the Schumacher of heart surgery as a doctor, because you can rely on someone like him. "And the Australian Formula 1 legend Jack Brabham said after Schumacher's sixth World Cup title with respect: "Not only because of his driving skills is Schumacher the driving force at Ferrari. He has a clever mind, even more than the great Fangio possessed. Schumacher has worked hard to bring Ferrari to the top. Fangio was just a driver. "
