With the stamp series »For Sport« the Federal Ministry of Finance supports the foundation Deutsche Sporthilfe. The proceeds from the small amount that you pay for the purchase of a sports brand in addition to the postage value, flow into the promotion of top and competitive sports. Each of the four brands will each be dedicated to a worldwide sporting event in 2010. At the X. Winter Paralympics in Vancouver from 12 to 21 March 2010, up to 600 athletes compete for medals on ten days of competition. On 17 February 2010, the National Paralympic Committee of the German Disabled Sports Association e.V. nominates the athletes. Depending on the qualifications, up to 80 German athletes will travel to Canada. For the first time in the German Paralympic history, the curling team could qualify. More than 1,000 journalists will report locally to the competitions for a worldwide audience.
