The World Championships in Modern Pentathlon from 13 to 23 August 2007 in Berlin was a highlight in the history of the German Association for Modern Pentathlon. All five disciplines (air pistol shooting, fencing fencing, swimming, horse riding and cross-country skiing) took place on the grounds around the Berlin Olympic Stadium. The athletes from more than 50 nations simultaneously fought for the starting places for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Nowadays Modern Pentathlon, which became an Olympic discipline in Stockholm in 1912, is a competition for all ages and both genders. The special stamps of the series »For Sport« appear with supplements in favor of the Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe. The aggregate proceeds support the Foundation's work in all areas of sport. The motifs of the four sports brands of this year are dedicated to the topic »World Championships in Germany«.
