The proceeds from the special postage stamps »For Sport« will benefit the Deutsche Sporthilfe Foundation and thus support the social interests and tasks of the Foundation in all areas of sport. From 12 June to 4 July 2004, 16 national teams compete for the title of the twelfth European Football Championship in Portugal. France acts as defending champion. Germany plays in the preliminary round against the Czech Republic, Latvia and the Netherlands. It is played in ten stadiums in eight cities: Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra, Faro / Loulé, Guimarães, Leiria, Lisbon and Porto. The final takes place in the 65,000-capacity »Estadio da Luz« in Lisbon.
