The German Sports Aid Foundation Otto-Fleck-Schneise 12 in Frankfurt was founded on May 26, 1967. In favor of this foundation, the Deutsche Bundespost is issuing a supplementary stamp series. Canoeing - also commonly referred to as paddling - is one of the water sports that serve in addition to the various disciplines of competitive sports for hundreds of thousands of hikers for recreational activities, relaxation and recreation. In competitive sports one distinguishes mainly canoe racing, canoe slalom and white water sports, of which only canoe racing is an Olympic discipline with eleven different races. On boats, kayaking and canadians (referred to as "canoes" abroad) are differentiated in competitive sports. While the kayak (there are one-, two- and four-kayaks) is seated with double paddles, the athletes kneel in the Canadier (there are one- and two-person canadians) and drive their boat forward with a puncture paddle. Most of the racing boats used today are still made of precious woods, but plastic boats are already gaining ground in various countries. In the Olympic program, the kayak and canoe races over 500 and 1,000 m are driven in the World Cup program in addition to 10,000 m. Ladies drive only over the distance of 500 m. The race track for canoe races must have stagnant water, the individual lanes are ballooned, all boats must be at least 5 m apart, which is easily possible in the 9 m wide lanes.
