With the stamp series »For Sport« the Federal Ministry of Finance supports the foundation Deutsche Sporthilfe. When buying a sports brand a small additional amount is paid to the postage value. With this money, the wide and competitive sport is supported. The four brands in 2010 are each dedicated to an international sporting event. On February 11, the first two sports brands of this year were already published: "Winter Paralympics" and "Winter Olympics 2010". Organizers, players and fans are eagerly awaiting the start of the World Cup. From June 11 to July 11, 2010, 32 teams compete for the title in South Africa. Johannesburg, with its two World Cup stadiums, is the venue for the opening match and the final. The other venues are Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Bloemfontein, Nelspruit, Rustenburg, Polokwane and the capital Pretoria. The first World Cup in Africa is an image project for the entire continent. Connoisseurs of the country predict a colorful tournament.
