The issue of special stamps with surcharges in favor of the »Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe«, whose patron is the Federal President, is to help the social tasks and tasks of the foundation in all areas of sport. The sports brands are this year in the sign of the Olympic Games and the European Football Championship; they show football, tennis, art jumping, clay pigeon shooting, figure skating (pairs) and hammer throwing. The aesthetic sport art and diving is one of the four divisions of the more than 100 years old German Swimming Association. Already since 1904 for men and since 1912 for women, this sport is carried out at the Olympic Games. The Olympic program consists of eight (dive-jumping women) to eleven (art-jumping men) jumps from six different groups. The term art jumping is used for the versions of the single- and three-dimensional spring board, while diving is carried out on fixed platforms of five and ten meters high. The development of this acrobatic sport is now so advanced that four and a half times turns are shown in the transverse and three and a half times in the longitudinal axis, with a clean attitude and good immersion are particularly valued. Leading nations in diving are the USA, China, GDR and USSR, which have numerous sports centers and coaches at their disposal. At the world level, the Federal Republic of Germany ranks fifth to eighth. (Text: Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe, Frankfurt am Main)
