The issue of special stamps with surcharges in favor of the »Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe«, whose patron is the Federal President, is to help the social tasks and tasks of the foundation in all areas of sport. The sports brands are in the sign of outstanding sports events in the Federal Republic of Germany this year. They show sailing (World Cup), Nordic skiing (World Cup), gymnastics (German gymnastics) and judo (World Cup). Nordic World Ski Championships on German soil have rarity value. From the 12th to the 21st of February 1987, for the first time after the Second World War, these international high-class title fights take place in the Federal Republic of Germany. The Allgäu market town of Oberstdorf, located in the south of Germany, is host to the 400 active and 600 carers from around 30 countries. A total of 13 competitions will be held. There are four titles each for cross-country skiing for women and men, three for special jumping and two for nordic combined. The evaluation takes place in nine single and four team disciplines. The International Ski Federation (FIS), the German Ski Federation (DSV) and the local organization committee form the superstructure for the organizational process. The sporting decisions in Oberstdorf concentrate on two areas. One is the Schattenberg ski stadium with the two world championship ski jumps, the other the start and finish area for the cross-country competitions at the foot of the ski flying hill in Stillachtal. The cross-country stadium in the south of Oberstdorf was recreated for the World Championships. The cross-country trails are artificially created. The trails are designed to test athletes' strength, endurance, technique and tactical skills. For World Championships and Olympic Games, the highest route point may not exceed 1650 m. In the men's championship decisions over 15 km, 30 km and 50 km and the 4 x 100 km relay. For the ladies, the fight for the medals is on the 5 km, 10 km and 20 km routes as well as in the 4 x 5 km relay. The strength of the DSV athletes lies in the nordic combination (jump and cross country), in which at the last World Championships in Seefeld in Austria in 1985 two gold medals in the individual and team standings were won.
