The motif depicts the portrait "Maria de Medici, daughter of Cosimo I" by Agnolo Bronzino (1503-1572), actually Agnolo di Cosimo, an Italian artist. He was the personal painter of the Medici, an influential and powerful family in Italy. Apart from portraits, he also painted religious portraits and images from mythology. Since November 20, 1947, the French currency was 1 Franc = 100 centimes on the Saarland stamps. the editorial board therefore records the nominal values of catalog numbers 226 to 378 in centimes.
