A charity issue in favor of Volkshilfe. Pictured is the painting "Almsgiving of St. Thomas of Villanueva" by Bartolomé Estéban Murillo (baptized 1618-died 1682), a Spanish artist who painted many religious images, especially Madonna portraits. He was the head of the school of Seville. Most well-known are probably his very realistic moral pictures, for example, child portraits, together with his bright and intense coloring. Since November 20, 1947, the French currency was 1 Franc = 100 centimes on the Saarland stamps. the editorial board therefore records the nominal values of catalog numbers 226 to 378 in centimes.
