The UN Convention on Children's Rights was developed as an international human rights instrument and came into force in 1989. For the first time in history, children were recognised as independent actors. Switzerland has also committed itself to ensuring that children's rights are respected. They are implemented in the triangle of state - parents - children. Specific rights, for example, have been incorporated into our country's Child and Adult Protection Act. Since children are particularly vulnerable and cannot assert their rights alone, the Convention on the Rights of the Child contains special requirements that go beyond general human rights: Children need special protection, special care and adults who ensure that they can participate in matters and decisions that concern them. Children should be heard and their opinions taken into account when making decisions. These demands are important so that parents can fulfil their educational obligations and support children in exercising their rights. "Giving children a voice" is the common denominator of the two Pro-Juventute special stamps designed by Theresia Nuber.
