The special stamps of the series »For Sport« appear with surcharges in favor of the »Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe«. The aggregate proceeds support the Foundation's work in all areas of sport. From August 20 to September 3, 2006, the international equestrian sports elite will meet at the »Equestrian World Championships in Aachen«. The organizers expect around half a million spectators from Germany and abroad at the Aachen-Laurensburger Rennverein. It is the same area where the prestigious World Equestrian Festival, the »CHIO Aachen«, takes place every year. At the Equestrian World Championships in Aachen, around 800 athletes from 50 nations will be among the titles in seven disciplines. In addition to show jumping, competitions will be held in dressage, eventing (eventing), four-in-hand team driving, vaulting, endurance riding and reining (western riding). The sports event of the year, which is the second largest in Germany after the World Cup, will be broadcasted by television stations in 140 countries - 40 states will even report live from Aachen.
