The stamp bears the embossed and thus palpable lettering "See with hands" in Braille. It recognizes two important institutions that have pioneered the promotion of blind and partially sighted people. To this day, they enable education and training as well as the integration of the blind and visually impaired in our society. The founding of the »Prussian Royal Institute for the Blind«, from which today's »School for the Blind Berlin« emerged, began the formation of the blind in Germany 200 years ago. For 150 years, the »Nikolauspflege« foundation has been working in the same field of activity, the work of which began with the founding of a first school for the blind in Stuttgart.
