The special postage stamp series for the reconstruction of Austria, designed by the painter and graphic artist Heinrich Blechner, shows an important economic element of the post-war period, which has lost much of its importance today, the mining industry. In the foreground on the right, the brand image shows a material train approaching the observer, on the left a powerful backhoe, while in the background part of the Erzberg with its familiar terraced rise and the Styrian Alps can be seen. The Tagbau on the Erzberg in Styria, which is documented in the 12th Century mined. Coal, magnesite, lead, copper and salt are the most important mining products of Austrian mining.
