The Bavarian-Upper Austrian Provincial Exhibition 2012 will take place from April 27 to November 4, under the telling title of "Allied - Diseated - Somewhat Committed". Already on April 26, 2012, the first day of the new special stamp, the cross-border show will be officially opened. The theme of the National Exhibition 2012 is the relationship between Upper Austria and the neighboring German state of Bavaria. This story is very changeable, interesting and highly intense. The two dynasties of Habsburg and the noble family of Wittelsbach are specially treated. The interesting exhibition is divided into three different locations, namely Braunau, Mattighofen and the Bavarian city of Burghausen. In the district capital of Braunau am Inn, Schloss Ranshofen has been lovingly renovated over the past few months, on the one hand to provide a worthy setting for the exhibition, and on the other hand, to be usefully used after the national exhibition. Also in Mattighofen, the second largest city in the district of Braunau, the local castle was restored. This was first documented in 788 AD and served the Bavarian dukes of the house Karolinger. After a varied history and many different owners, the castle belonged since 1947 to the Austrian Federal Forestry, which managed here especially the Kobernaußerwald. In 2007, the municipality of Mattighofen finally bought the property and had it renovated. As the only Bavarian venue of the national exhibition in 2012, Burghausen plays a very special role. The city is mainly known for the longest and largest preserved castle in Europe. This is where the journey through time of the great show begins. The main focus in Burghausen is on the 8th to the 14th century, with special attention being paid to the extension of Bavaria into Austrian space. All in all, visitors have access to an exhibition area of more than 4,000 square meters, and more than 800 exhibits from different eras are presented in attractive form. A particularly representative piece is the one that adorns the present special stamp: the seal of the Golden Bull Emperor Charles IV. The Imperial Law Book from 1356 served the Reich until 1806 as a Basic Law and wrote among other things the choice of a king and the corresponding election procedure.
