On 18 December 1858, the executive boards of the two Protestant communities in Vienna - Augsburg and Helvetic confession - decided to risk the construction of their own school building. On behalf of the Emperor, the Ministry of the Interior handed over a plot of land suitable for this school building on today's Karlsplatz on 17 March 1860. The Protestant schoolhouse was officially opened on 5 June 1862. A fire department of the German Wehrmacht put on April 9, 1945 this school house on fire. The reconstruction began on March 14, 1951. This special series of stamps was intended to financially support the completion of the reconstruction work through its contract. The brand image shows the Bummerlhaus in Steyr, which holds the memory that before the Reformation, the Waldenses - one of the so-called pre-reformation movements that thrust from the valleys of the Italian-French Alps to Moravia - in Steyr a strong base and next the preaching of the gospel had the instruction of the youth as a strong concern. This building is the oldest Protestant school building in Austria.
