As a living, economic, cultural and recreational space for humans and one of the last retreats of endangered species, dealing with the landscapes of the Alps requires special sensitivity. Above all, this requirement should be met by the establishment of the Hohe Tauern National Park, which has been under discussion since 1971. As it becomes clear in this case, however, the close intertwining with questions of the economic use of a fast realization stands in the way. The networking of neighboring eco-systems in the Alps is closer than in the lowlands and thus much more susceptible to disturbances, which is too revealing. Compromises in the economic field, in the establishment of national parks excludes. The Alpine Convention, drawn up in 1991 by the European Economic Community, has developed an integrative overall concept which, in cooperation with the seven Alpine States, is intended to ensure a healthy development of the Alpine region.
