The series "Flowers" aims to draw attention to the beauty and variety of flowers in gardens and nature with modern and at the same time timeless motives. The colorful and atmospheric representations should help to rediscover and enjoy the little pleasures of everyday life that are often barely perceived in our hectic times. The new edition shows a flower of the popular in many gardens California gold poppy (Eschscholzia californica). Originally this plant originates from the west of the USA, where it is still common today. The gold poppy belongs to the poppy family and flowers from June to October. In the vernacular, names like "Schlafmützchen" (due to the flowers closed in the rain and at night), "Goldbecher" and "Eierdöppkes" (egg pots) have become established. The genus of the gold poppy includes eight to ten annual or perennial species. The bushy plants are 15 to 25 inches high and the flowers are three to seven inches wide. In Indian medicine, the milky juice of the plant was used against toothache. Also, extracts from the gold poppy were used as a gentle sleeping aid.
