Garden lovers can already look forward to the liverwort in March with its light blue, white or pink flowers. It is therefore also called marigold. The hepatica flowers in shady deciduous forests until April. There are about ten species of this perennial plant, which belongs to the buttercup family (Latin Ranunculaceae). It got its name because of the shape of its leaves, which resemble a liver. This plant is not only reminiscent of the form of this organ, it was used in folk medicine, among other things for liver diseases. Furthermore, one used the liverwort as a medicinal plant in bile, lung and laryngeal diseases.
