It is the first approach station for winter-tired bees: the winter aconite (Eranthis hyemalis). Together with the snowdrops, the about 10 to 15 centimeters tall flower belongs to the absolute early flowering plants. The rich yellow, six-petalled flowers exude a far-reaching, sweet and fresh spring fragrance. If the winterling on humus-rich soil under bushes and light deciduous trees forms dense yellow carpets, he is a real eye-catcher. The Hahnenfußgewächs also has a catch: It is poisonous in all parts and must not be consumed. Originally Eranthis hyemalis is from southern Europe. In the mid-16th century botanists brought the ornamental plant from Italy to the countries north of the Alps. First, it adorned in their spectacular splendor primarily aristocratic gardens and landscaped parks, where they partly feral. The hallmark of winter aconite is his unrestrained desire to procreate. Or, as a garden lover put it, first comes the joy, then the panic. Self-adhesive, set of 10.
