The series »Flowers« aims to draw attention to the beauty and variety of flowers in gardens and nature in Germany with modern yet timeless motifs. The colorful and atmospheric depictions are designed to help rediscover and enjoy the little pleasures of everyday life that are often barely perceived in our hectic times. With the garden rose the "queen of flowers" is appreciated. No other plant has been and is so revered and no other plant is so closely linked to the emotional life as the rose. In particular, red roses are considered a symbol of love and romance. There are about 30,000 varieties of roses worldwide. Important rose collections in Germany are the European Rosarium in Sangerhausen (southern Harz), the German Rosarium in Dortmund, the Rose Garden in Palatine Zweibrücken and the Rosarium Uetersen near Hamburg. Rosenfreunde find a forum for professional exchange in the Gesellschaft Deutscher Rosenfreunde, based in Baden-Baden. Sales figures show how popular roses are: more than 1 billion roses are sold every year in Germany.
