A new postage stamp continuous series with representations from industry and technology replaces the postage stamp continuous series "Federal President Heinemann". The postage stamps for 5 Pfennig, 140 Pfennig and 200 Pfennig appear as further values of this series with the inscription Deutsche Bundespost (at the same time and same motives the stamps also come out with the inscription Deutsche Bundespost Berlin, three values each already on May 15, 14. 140 Pf: CHP The brand image shows a part of the Heizkraftwerk Lichterfelde on the Teltow Canal, which at 450,000 kilowatts is the most powerful and at the same time most modern base load system in Berlin. Construction began in the spring of 1970. The plant is divided into the 151 m long engine house and the three separate 98 m high boiler houses. On each boiler house stands an insulated steel chimney with a mouth height of almost 160 m. The heavy fuel oil delivered exclusively in tankers is liquefied by heating the ship's bunkers and pumped into the 60,000 m3 oil reservoirs. Another tank with 15,000 m3 content is filled with particularly low-sulfur oil, which is to be used in low-exchange weather conditions. The Heizkraftwerk Lichterfelde is of the utmost importance for supplying West Berlin with electrical energy, because here, too, electricity consumption - as in Germany - has more than doubled in ten years.
