The new stamp series »Flowers« begins in Germany with the postage stamp »Larkspur«. It will replace the permanent series »Women of German History« and »Sightseeing« step by step. However, postage stamps of these two series still retain their validity. Together with Margerite, Sonnenhut and Rose, the Larkspur is one of the most striking spots of color in the garden. The color palette of the flowers ranges from water blue over sky blue to gentian blue. The name Larkspur is derived from the shape of the last of the five bracts, which ends in a long spur. Garden knight spurs have been bred since the middle of the 19th century. There are more than 400 species of larkspur worldwide, including annual herbs and perennials. Well-known varieties include "mountain sky", "Finsteraarhorn" and "mother-of-pearl". The brand "Larkspur" serves the new tariff for a domestic package with a value of 430 cents.
