On 23 July 1970, the Deutsche Bundespost launches a new permanent series with the first stamp issue: »Federal President Gustav Heinemann«. The motif is the same for all brands and shows a head picture of the third Federal President, Dr. med. Gustav Heinemann (1899-1976). The values of the permanent series were published simultaneously and with the same motifs in the editions »Deutsche Bundespost« and »Deutsche Bundespost Berlin«.
