New postage stamp series The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications of the German Democratic Republic issues a further series of endurance series series in addition to the existing postage stamp series. The stamps show motifs of socialist construction in the German Democratic Republic in free graphic design. No special first day cover envelope Postage Stamp Series 20 Pfennig value: Berlin-Leninplatz The stepped high-rise building with the Lenin monument by the Soviet sculptor N. W. Tomski in front of it is the highest residential building in the capital of the German Democratic Republic. It forms the architectural completion of the construction of Lenin Square. In the series of interestingly designed squares of the city, this urban ensemble is a highlight, not least because of the successful synthesis of architecture and visual art. In close collaboration with the architects, Tomski was able to relate the Lenin monument to the dynamically curved ring-shaped buildings of the square and the tiered skyscraper in such a way that architecture and sculpture can mutually enhance their effect. Thanks to the great initiative of the participating construction workers' brigades, the building shown could be completed in the shortest possible time. The workers of this construction site were the scene of the great production competition in honor of the centenary of the birth of W. I. Lenin, which seized the whole of the republic.
