The special postage stamp series "Post" puts the benefits of the medium letter into the consciousness of the people. It is the fourth stamp on "Seasons" in 2006. The 23rd of September is the so-called Equinox. From that day on the nights will be longer than the days. Calendar begins this autumn, which extends over the months of September, October and November. Many native plants change their appearance during this time: The deciduous trees extract the juice and nutrients from their leaves to store them in their trunks and roots throughout the winter. As a result, the leaves turn red, golden yellow and brown, before finally falling off. This is also shown in the picture of an autumnal beech forest, which can be seen on the stamp issue. Originally, the term autumn derives from Indo-European and means "time of the fruit" or "harvest time". The main festival in autumn is the Thanksgiving Day on the first Sunday in October, with which Christians thank the harvested fruit. After the often sunny »golden October«, the November is usually foggy and often cool. For many children, the 11th of November is a special day, because then the Lantern Festival is celebrated in honor of St. Martin.
