In sparsely populated regions such as the Palatinate Forest, motorized letter carriers offer the services of the so-called »mobile post service«. Postlers not only deliver letters, but also offer almost all the services of a post office, thereby ensuring the postal supply of the communities without their own post office. During winter days, the deliverer is sometimes the only connection between the villagers and the outside world. Often he personally knows all the inhabitants of his delivery area - and everyone knows him.
