The 1972 Olympic Brand Series is the last of a total of five series of extra stamps published in Munich on the occasion of the 1972 Olympic Games. The four existing stamps have been published as a se-tenant and as a block sentence. All issues are surcharged. As in previous years, the proceeds will be donated to the Foundation for the Promotion of the 1972 Olympic Games, which will be donated in full to Stiftung Deutsche Sporthilfe. Sporthilfe expects to spend around DM 12 million on its support measures. In addition to the revenue from the special Olympia stamps, the individual support for athletes is financed through donations and cooperation with companies: charity records, sports aid dollars in gold, silver and Bronze, Olympic calendars, first day covers and promotion certificates for 10, - DM, 100, - DM and 1.000, - DM with donation certificates. The block shows further depictions of Olympic disciplines, namely long jump, basketball, discus throwing and canoeing.
