The 1970 Olympic brands are the third of a total of five additional stamp series that appear with a view to the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich. They are supposed to refer to the Olympic Games annually until 1972 and at the same time deliver a financial contribution from the surcharges. The local and temporal reason can be seen from the text at the top of the 1970 Olympics. It is »Munich 1972«. The Olympic rings show the factual context. The proceeds will be donated to the Foundation for the Promotion of the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972, in which representatives of the sport have equal representation. The management lies with the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Bonn, Rheindorfer road 198. The foundation is to help in the preparation and execution of the Olympic Games Munich 1972 everywhere where other means can not be provided insufficiently or where unforeseeable need arises. Its main purpose is to promote the ideological, cultural and people-connecting thoughts of the Olympic Games. Part of the private donations, which amount to millions of pfennig amounts, should also be used to promote top athletes. In the inaugural meeting, which took place on 17 May 1967 in the Federal Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, there was unanimity that in the use of funds, the donation character must be in the foreground, because the mass of buyers certainly would not be ready for the To donate subway construction. After personalities as practicing athletes or organizers of sporting events on the first series of Olympic marks and sites that serve the pursuit of sporting disciplines, on the second series this time classicistic buildings are shown in Munich. The chosen architectural style symbolizes the origin of the Olympic Games in ancient Greece. The choice of Munich buildings is understood as the venue of the next Olympic Games. The buildings depicted are: the residence, the Propylaea, the Glyptothek and the Bavaria.
