There were 1200 years until the year 393 of our era in ancient times, but only in 1896 took place in modern times again Olympic Games, Olympic Winter Games ever since 1924. Austria won at that time in ice skating and pairing three gold and one silver medal. In 1928 in St. Moritz, the Austrian team received in the same disciplines three silver and one bronze medal and was thus 1924 on the 3rd and 1928 in the 6th place in the medal ranking. Olympic Winter Games were held in Innsbruck in 1964 (933 participants from 36 countries) and 1976 (1368 participants from 37 countries). At the 2002 Winter Games from 8 to 24 February 2002 in Salt Lake City and 8 surrounding areas in the US state of Utah There were 2300 athletes from 80 countries in 7 sports and 78 competitions. Para-Olympics, the disabled athletes' Olympic Games, meanwhile one of the biggest sporting events in the world, took place in Salt Lake City a week after the Olympic Games. By the way: Austria (Salzburg and Kitzbühel) applies for Bosnia Herzegovina (Sarajevo), Canada (Vancouver), Korea, Spain and Switzerland (Berne) for the 2010 Winter Games. The engraving mark was, like all the recent Olympics, again by Prof Gottfried Kumpf designed and engraved by Prof. Wolfgang Seidl.
