Lilehammer, 180 km north of Oslo, has 23,000 inhabitants and offers ideal conditions for hosting this year's Winter Games from 12-27.2.1994. Many competitions take place in the immediate vicinity of the Olympic Village. The alpine ski industry is held partly in Hafjell (15 km away) and partly in Kvitjell (50 km away). These are the first Olympic Games that are not held in the usual rhythm. For the first time in a year only winter games. Of particular importance to the organizers is the environmental compatibility of the games. Thus, all sports facilities are built using predominantly natural materials and harmoniously adapt to the environment. The buildings of the Olympic Village are made of wood and will be dismantled and resold after the games for the most part. A small part will remain as apartments.
