The first decade was marked by extraordinary momentum. In 1952, the VEB DSR had only one ship, the steamer "forward", in 1962 the deep-sea trading fleet already consisted of 82 ships with a total carrying capacity of 482,424 t. At present, the VEB DSR uses about 180 vessels, which transport goods of all kinds worldwide and safely to the satisfaction of shippers using modern transport technologies. 15-pfennig value: MS "Brocken", special heavy-lift ship The 82.21 m long and 16.45 m wide ship has a carrying capacity of 1,350 t. The action radius of 9,000 nautical miles (16,200 km) and the highest ice class allow unlimited use. Two main engines with an output of 1,200 hp each give the twin-screw vessel a speed of 12 knots (22.2 km / h). The low draft of 3.95 m also allows driving on shallow waters. With MS "Brocken", which was put into service in 1976, the VEB DSR has a special vessel for the transport of heavy and bulky goods, industrial equipment and complete plants.
