On March 1, 1971, the new Highway Code comes into force. It contains new rules for road traffic and adapts the traffic signs applicable in the Federal Republic of Germany to international signs. "New rules in road traffic," is the motto of the special postage stamp series "Road Traffic", which is intended to help the population to point out the need to observe the traffic signs. The directional sign "right of way" indicates the right of way. Outside built-up areas, it is usually 250 to 150 m from a road junction or -einmündung. If the sign is at a shorter distance before the intersection or junction, then this distance - z. B. 80 m - indicated on an additional sign. Within closed villages, the sign stands immediately before the intersection or junction.
