Conservation means the preservation of the landscape in the creation of settlements, traffic routes and technical facilities. The tasks of nature conservation, which is a part of environmental protection, are manifold. One of the most important measures in this area is the establishment and preservation of nature reserves, landscape conservation areas and nature reserves, which primarily serve to preserve our endangered flora and fauna and scientific research. Depending on the extent of nature conservation, the areas are classified as full nature reserves, partial nature reserves or landscape conservation areas. The most vulnerable areas, the full nature reserves, are untouchable. Interventions in the existing are only allowed to maintain the natural state. Partial nature conservation areas - areas that have special protection objectives associated with them - may include: a. Plant protection areas and animal protection areas (eg bird sanctuaries). Protected natural areas are referred to as landscape protection areas. Above all, they serve to maintain a balanced natural balance. Their scenic beauty, their livestock and the peculiarity of these protected areas make them popular recreation areas. The Federal Republic of Germany has around 1,000 nature reserves with a size of around 300,000 ha. The special stamp »Nature Reserves« should remind of their importance for the endangered flora and fauna, for a balanced natural balance and not least for the people seeking rest.
