The shortest connection between the capitals of Vorarlberg (Bregenz) and Tyrol (Innsbruck) leads through the Klostertal valley at the western foot of the Arlberg. It separates two completely different natural areas, the Lechquellengebiet (Klostertaler Alps) and the high mountains of the Verwalls. The Klostertal Alps, with their diverse folds and fractured structures, emerged at the end of the Tertiary around 1.4 million years ago. The hollow stone, an opening in the rock of about 5 m wide and 7 m high is a product of the natural weathering of the rock. The natural phenomenon is located west of the rye head (2284 m) at an altitude of 1744 m. From there, a fantastic view opens up to the Verwall and the Rhätikon. However, this attraction is only one element of the wonderful natural landscape of the Klostertal, which annually attracts numerous guests from home and abroad and which was declared a "Post Valley" on 18 August 1989. As a result, everything that is postal is to be used for tourism in the future, as the Klostertal has long been of great importance as a link and transport route for Swiss Post as well.
